The salt trade at Xwejni Coast on the Northern coast of Gozo worked by the Cini family has been running for generations. While visiting, one can witness the salt harvesting which is done during the summer period i.e from the month of May till the end of August/ September depending on weather elements.
Salt is produced from 3 simple ingredients, the sun, the sea and the wind. The salt harvesting still goes the traditional way and is packed manually. Everyone is welcome to visit. One can find us in the salt shop hewn in the rocks. Leli and Roza will be more than happy to welcome you to share their stories and give you free information about the family sea salt trade.
The pure genuine authentic sea salt from the Cini family can be purchased on site. Groups and educational tours are organized by appointment. When visiting, avoid walking on the salt pans and respect salt farmers and other visitors.
