Alexander Frey, Artist-in-Residence at Gaulitana, continues his popular multi-media lecture-recitals by exploring the complexities of Cole Porter’s life and music. One of the most important popular songwriters of the 20th century, Cole Porter became one of the leading composers on Broadway, as well as for the great film musicals of the golden age of Hollywood. Possessing a great wit, he was the first theatre composer to also be his own lyricist – his song texts are considered as brilliant as his music. The event also explores Porter’s private life was as sophisticated and as complex as his music and lyrics.
