Stage and Proms on the Sea
The Gozo Youth Wind Band (GYWB) within the Gozo Youth Wind Band & Orchestra is proud to present once again the 8th Edition of Stage and Proms on the Sea. Following the first edition in which the band played on a large pontoon floating on water, last 6 years we put up the stage on land just touching the sea and was very well-received by the large crowd that attended. Apart from on-stage lighting effects that will enhance the evening, special submergible lighting features will create a yet more spectacle evening in this renowned picturesque harbour in Gozo. This evening should be regarded yet another high-calibre event in the midst of Summer that could serve as another attraction to a varied audience, Maltese, Gozitans, Foreign Residents residing in Gozo and also tourists. In order to offer an attractive evening to the public, we are proposing to bring to Gozo colourful and audience-participating repertoire reminiscent of London West-End shows and evergreen masterpieces from the Proms. Audience may enjoy a galore of excerpts and medleys from musicals as also classic encores performed in the BBC Proms Final Night held at The Royal Albert Hall. The concert will feature pop singers – Sarah Bonnici (Gozo) and Ludwig Galea (Malta) interpreting various roles while special light effects will complement the evening. While the Gozo Youth Wind Band will be practically performing by the sea, the audience will be able to enjoy the show FREE of CHARGE on the overlooking promenade around the Mgarr Marina. A special designated seated VIP area will also be available for patrons to enjoy the evening with a dinner.
